Inserting Images From A File In FrontPage

How To Insert Images From A File In FrontPage

If you have some images stored on the hard drive of your computer, it is an easy task to insert these onto your web page in FrontPage. Click Insert on the menu bar > Picture > From File. When the Picture dialogue box opens, click on the file folder with the magnifying glass in the bottom right hand corner. The Select File dialogue box should then open.

Click on the image you want to insert. You can use various file types, such as GIF, PNG, and BMP, but once inserted into FrontPage they will be converted to either JPEG or GIF.

Click OK and the image will be added to the page.

Image Sizes And Performance

Bigger images take longer to load on a web page than smaller. Here, we are talking about the file size in KB, not the dimensions of the image in pixels. Also, the more images you have on a page, the longer that page will take to load. When you are addding images to a page, you must take care not to use so many that it has a detrimental effect on your page load times. You don't want your visitors having to wait half an hour for your pages to load.

As well as cutting down the number of images you put on a page, you can also reduce file sizes of images by optimising them. Graphics applications like Adobe Fireworks, Photoshop and Illustrator all have optimising functions that you can use to decrease file sizes - sometimes dramatically.
