Interactive Internet

Interacting On The Internet

The internet is a great place to interact with other people. Whether you want to share ideas with like minded people, ask for help on a particular subject or just socialise and have fun, there are web sites that will provide that service. I've listed here some of the more popular methods.

Forums And Blogs

Forums and blogs encourage interaction. You can register to become a member of a forum and then participate in discussions, or you can "lurk" anonymously and just read the content there. Similarly with blogs: you can read informative material in the form of blog posts, but if you want to make a comment on a blog, you need to register. Registering with the site usually takes a matter of minutes, and you'll find that most forums and blogs operate the same way so the process is similar from site to site.

Different forums are good for different things. I'm a member of a few forums that I visit to give help to others who need information. On other forums I share information and ask for help too. In addition to "information and help" orientated forums, there are many "entertainment" forums too.

The Social Aspect

Recently, the social side of the internet has really taken off. Social bookmarking sites like Digg, Stumble Upon and Reddit allow us to "bookmark" web pages so that others may benefit from our bookmark (and comments). Twitter allows us to "tweet" about what we are currently doing. Many people call Twitter a "micro blogging" service.

Entertainment Sites

The internet is overflowing with entertainment sites. Whether your interest is celebrity gossip, or video gaming, the internet has it covered. And of course, for every subject that you think of, there is probably a forum or blog in that area.
